Sep 12 – 19, 2018
Our vacation started out with the non-stop flight from Vancouver to Cabo with Westjet Airlines. I had arranged private roundtrip transfers with Cabo Transfers for 132.00 USD.
I had the privilege of going to this resort for the 2nd time. I was able to upgrade my room for an additional 60.00 USD per night to a swim out. We were in building 2 on the corner closest to the main building.
Our room 2101 was amazing. We had a lounger, two chairs, and two small side tables. The swim out pool was well maintained and the shrubs around the swim outs were well maintained. The nightclub Desires below us was not loud at all.
Marketplace for breakfast was great and we had lots of choices. We also ate there twice for lunch and again lots of choices.
Portofino - Italian - We were only able to eat there once as the other nights we wanted were closed. The food was beyond delicious.
Himitsu - Asian - we ate here 3 times. Spring rolls are so good. We tried something different every time and we were never disappointed.
El Patio - Mexican - the worst restaurant. I can not describe how bad this was. We actually sent our meal back and left.
Oceana - Seafood- was very very good. Ate here twice. First time I had the Mediterranean Salmon and the second time I had the chefs special; a poached salmon. Probably my best meal of the week.
Coco cafe - coffee shop- Was so nice to have this open 24 hours a day. Lots of choices from hot and cold beverages.
Barefoot Grill - ate there twice for lunch. Excellent hamburgers and chicken burgers.
Service - overall was amazing. Everyone seemed happy to be working.
Main - was cleaned every morning and there was always someone collecting leaves from the pool. Bar service was non stop and friendly. Pool assistance was also amazing. Always assisting in moving umbrellas to keep you in the shade and bringing fresh towels.
We did not use. We wanted to but the pricing was just so expensive.
Things that I would change
The marketplace at dinner time. It was only open 1 night and only seating outside because of the show. It was too humid with lots of flies and mosquitoes to sit outdoors. We were told we couldn’t eat there anyway because my husband was wearing shorts. There was also a night on the garden that the buffet was set up again outside. Mexican night; there were many people asking for a casual place to eat and wanted the buffet indoors.
The dress code - was very inconsistent - I was told no flip flops for me in the Asian Restaurant but they didn’t even look at my feet and took me in. We saw lots of men wearing shorts in the restaurants but it really depends on who is working on the desk. It would be nice to know the weeks schedule for the restaurants so you could plan. The boards have the daily schedule but even that was subject to change depending on the weather.
The mini bar - we only had replacement service twice during the week and it was only for the sodas. The beer was never replaced.
The grounds- clean and tidy. Well looked after and they were constantly raking the sand gardens.
Activities - the activity team was very good at encouraging people to join in on the many activities but never pushy. The water aerobics was the most popular and lasted about an hour every day.
We had 2 days of high winds and rain. The staff worked so hard to keep everything clear of the water. The would just get everything clear of the water and the skies would open up again and they would start all over. I felt so sad for them. But they would always smile.
Overall, I love this resort and I look forward to going back.
